FrameZero is a local-first video creation tool. Free projects are stored locally in your browser. If you create an account and use Pro features, certain information is processed to provide cloud sync, media storage, and billing.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.


1. Information We Collect

A. Account Information (Pro Users)

If you create a FrameZero account, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • OAuth authentication identifiers (e.g., Google account ID)
  • Basic profile information provided by your OAuth provider
  • Account metadata (plan type, account creation date)

This information is used to authenticate your account and provide cloud features.


B. Project & Media Data (Pro Users)

If you use cloud features, we store:

  • Project files
  • Scene data
  • Uploaded images, audio, and other media assets

This data is stored securely using third-party cloud infrastructure. We do not access or review your content except:

  • To provide the service
  • To troubleshoot issues at your request
  • To comply with legal obligations

Free (non-account) projects remain stored locally in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers.


C. Billing Information

Payments are processed by Polar.

We do not store credit card numbers or full payment details. Polar processes payment information in accordance with their Privacy Policy:

We may store limited billing metadata such as subscription status and transaction IDs.


D. Anonymous Analytics

We use PostHog in privacy-focused mode to collect limited usage analytics.

Analytics data may include:

  • Page visits
  • Browser and device type
  • Approximate geographic region (derived from anonymized IP)
  • Feature usage events (e.g., export button clicks)

We do not use analytics to identify individual users or track you across websites.

Our legal basis for processing analytics data (where applicable) is legitimate interest in improving the product.


2. Local Storage

Free users’ projects and settings are stored locally in your browser using technologies such as IndexedDB and LocalStorage.

If you clear browser data or switch devices without exporting your work, your local projects may be lost.


3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the service
  • Authenticate users
  • Sync and store cloud projects
  • Process payments
  • Improve performance and features
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.


4. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active.
  • Cloud project and media data is retained until deleted by you or your account is deleted.
  • Billing records may be retained as required for tax and legal compliance.
  • Anonymous analytics data may be retained in aggregate form.

5. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us.

When your account is deleted:

  • Account information is removed
  • Cloud projects and uploaded media are deleted
  • Some billing records may be retained for legal compliance

6. Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate FrameZero, including:

  • Polar (payment processing)
  • PostHog (analytics)
  • Cloud hosting and storage providers
  • OAuth authentication providers (e.g. Google)

These providers process data on our behalf under contractual agreements and applicable data protection laws.


7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
